  Jewelery

  All of our unique, hand-made sterling silsee jewels are made by hammering, burnishing and repoussé work, techniques applied by our artisans to materialize exquisite designs. Our work is inspired by pre-Columbian, araucanian jewel designs of South American origin. Materials such as beginning-of-the-century aboriginal weavings, magic amulets and religious reliquaries have been adopted and given a new value. We use and select semi-precious stones, taking into consideration their color, size and cutting.

  Plateria

  El trabajo de la plata tiene una larga tradición en el continente americano. Las diversas culturas precolombinas explotaron las minas de plata oro del continente y trabajaron los metales preciosos para rendir culto a sus deidades y dirigentes. Con la llegada de los españoles la plata asumió un rol similar en las iglesias siendo complemento y adorno en retablos y altares. Pero la sed de plata también llevó a la explotación desmedida del trabajo indígena para la exportación al viejo continente y el enriquecimiento de los adelantados. En América la platería de origen hispanoamericano siguió un camino particular que fue el resultado de un proceso de hibridación entre las culturas locales y la europea que respondía al gusto y las necesidades de la sociedad colonial.
