Plata Nativa

Negra Luna, left us unexpectedly, with all her grace in tow on July 23, 2017. We already miss her a lot, after more than 30 uninterrupted years of a lovely partnership.

Plata Nativa began with a shared passion for native designs. Deep, one of those passions that incite to travel, to look at distant landscapes and old cultures with curiosity, to study their history. Pre-Columbian jewelry, Araucanian design, indigenous weavings from northwestern Argentina and colonial art are the inheritance where Black Moon, Marta Campana y Leo Alché found beauty.

They occupied a small space in the heart of downtown Buenos Aires. They covered it from floor to ceiling with carvings, tupos, altarpieces and textiles; they illuminated the necklaces woven with macramé technique, so that the stones and beads shine. They achieve a blend of regional craftsmanship with good taste, and do not confuse fashion with lasting beauty.

With much wisdom, the work of passionate artisans and under the protection of magic amulets and religious reliquaries, unique pieces are born that do not limit themselves to reproducing the designs of native peoples; they make them visible and palpable, capable of transmitting the emotion and strength of primitive art.
