Plata Nativa

110 Tupos

Silver cups, different models, spoons, openwork. XIX Century.

The tupu is a large ornamental pin used to hold the llicllas or blankets of peasant women. Its long trajectory since Inca times is a model of disjunctive transformation, in whose history one can appreciate the vital persistence of some objects that are capable of undergoing numerous formal modifications in their adaptation to new circumstances, without losing their functional place in the context of aboriginal culture.
