Plata Nativa

2 Chichero

These wooden vessels originated as keros—ritual or ceremonial objects used by the Inca nobility. The keros underwent rapid formal transformations to adapt to new social circumstances and entered the realm of peasant folk art—a hermetic art form, rich in symbolism and ritual use. These pieces are crafted by a community artist for everyday use, using primitive tools. These vessels date from the late 19th century and the early 20th century.
