Paul of Thebes, Paul the Hermit or Paul the Egyptian was an Egyptian hermit. He is venerated in the Catholic Church and in the Coptic Church as a saint and is considered by Christian tradition as the first hermit who existed. His liturgical memorial is celebrated on January 15.
